China exempts citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia from needing entry visas. Until November 30th 2024, holders of ordinary passports from the above countries are allowed to enter China visa-free for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, and transit for no more than 15 days.

Under the “144-hour visa-free transit policy”, foreign travelers of 54 eligible countries and regions in Europe, America, Oceania and Asia, can apply for a 6-day entry permit to certain Chinese cities, including Guangzhou and the Guangdong province.

After landing at the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, passengers who meet the policy conditions, hold a passport valid for no less than 3 months, a connecting ticket to a third country (which means they must transit to another country, including Hong Kong, before flying back home) with a fixed date and seat within 144 hours, a hotel reservation form, can fill out the “Arrival Card For Temporary Entry Foreigners,” and submit it to apply for 144-hour visa-free transit.

For foreign nationals who urgently need to engage in business cooperation and visit exchanges, and are unable to obtain a visa overseas in time, they can apply for a port visa to enter China by presenting invitation letters and other relevant supporting documents to the port visa authorities.

These are very convenient conditions to make even easier and faster the arrival in Guangzhou and the 53rd CIFF Guangzhou 2024 more accessible to buyers, designers and industry experts, fostering greater attendance and a more diverse range of perspectives at the event!

China implements measures to facilitate foreigners visiting China http://en.homelifestyle.cn/2024/01/13/china-implements-measures-to-facilitate-foreigners-visiting-china/ http://en.homelifestyle.cn/2024/01/13/china-implements-measures-to-facilitate-foreigners-visiting-china/#respond Sat, 13 Jan 2024 11:07:03 +0000 http://en.homelifestyle.cn/?p=3066 China’s National Immigration Administration officially implements five measures to facilitate foreign nationals coming to China, effective on Thursday, including relaxing visa application requirements and simplifying visa application materials. This move represents China’s opening-up to the outside world continues to speed up.

At a conference held on Thursday, an official from China’s National Immigration Administration announced those measures. They include relaxing the conditions for foreign nationals to apply for port visas to China. For foreign nationals who urgently need to engage in business cooperation, visit exchanges, investment and other non-diplomatic and non-official activities, if they are unable to obtain a visa overseas in time, they can apply for a port visa to enter China by presenting invitation letters and other relevant supporting documents to the port visa authorities.

Foreign nationals can transit through  Guangzhou Baiyun  Airport and other designated international airports in China without going through immigration procedures for up to 24 hours. This policy applies to nine international airports, including Beijing Capital, Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Pudong, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, Xiamen Gaoqi, Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen Bao’an, Chengdu Tianfu, and Xi’an Xianyang.

Travelers with international connecting flights within 24 hours can transit through any of these airports to a third country or region without going through immigration procedures and enjoy visa-free transit.

Foreigners who are in China for a short period of time to engage in business cooperation, visit exchanges, investment among other non-diplomatic and official activities, may apply for a visa extension or replacement from the local exit and entry administration of the public security organ if they have legitimate and reasonable reasons to continue staying in China.

Foreigners in China who need to enter and exit the country multiple times for legitimate reasons can apply for a multiple-entry visa by submitting an invitation letter and other relevant supporting documentation to the exit and entry administration.

For foreign nationals applying for visas, if their accommodation registration records and business licenses can be accessed through information sharing, they are exempt from providing relevant paper documents for verification. For foreign nationals in China applying for short-term family reunion visas, a declaration of kinship by the inviting person can be used instead of proof of kinship.

According to the official, as China’s economy continues to recover and improve, and its level of opening-up to the outside world expands, there has been a surge in demand for enhanced immigration management services from both domestic and foreign enterprises and individuals.

In response, the National Immigration Administration is proactively collaborating with relevant authorities to address key challenges and obstacles pertaining to the entry of foreigners for business, study, and tourism in China.

Border inspection authorities across China checked a total of 210 million visitors entering the country in 2023, recovering to 62.9 percent of the levels seen in 2019. The number of visitors entering the country will continue to rise in 2024 thanks to resumption of international flights and cross-border personnel exchanges, said official from the National Immigration Administration.

Last month, China rolled out a one-year visa-free policy to ordinary passport holders from six countries – France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia – starting from December 1, 2023. The move also aims to further facilitate cross-border people-to-people exchanges between China and foreign countries, and serve the country’s high-quality development and opening-up.

Announcement: China’s 72/144-Hour Visa-Free Transit Policies Now Cover 54 Countries

EXHIBITIONS | How the idea of home living changes http://en.homelifestyle.cn/2024/01/08/exhibitions-how-the-idea-of-home-living-changes/ http://en.homelifestyle.cn/2024/01/08/exhibitions-how-the-idea-of-home-living-changes/#respond Mon, 08 Jan 2024 01:18:58 +0000 http://en.homelifestyle.cn/?p=3011 Some of the most leading international designers addressed the theme of the new forms of contemporary living at the Road to Salone 2024. Here’s a brief run-down.

What’s in a lamp?, Foscarini, Luca Font

  • What forms has contemporary living adopted?
  • How has the concept of home evolved over the last few years?
  • How have domestic habits changed?
  • How are they likely to change over the next few decades?
  • What challenges do domestic spaces face right now in order to become more “habitable.”

Our idea of home living is not set in stone but is subject to constant change. In any case, cities are becoming increasingly dynamic, technological and oriented towards the future, influencing our idea of home living.

Cities these days are focused on sustainability with a view to improving their urban layout and making spaces more efficient, liveable and integrated with each other, on a human scale. Within this context, design represents a lens through which reality and its trajectories can be read, laying bare unprecedented consumer needs and habits.

The new objects that populate domestic spaces are characterised by their future-oriented design, also in a more concrete sense – along with design and functionality, durability is an essential parameter when it comes to greater sustainability. Change has therefore become the leitmotif, along with increasingly present technological development, simplifying everyday processes and improving contemporary living.

At Road to Salone 2024, the road trip through Europe and the United States, which gave an initial taster of the 62nd edition of the Salone del Mobile, the subject of contemporary living was central to the meetings with international designers, who threw original and enriching light on this particular theme.

At the Cheval Blanc Paris, a historic Parisian building which revisited by Peter Marino, the famous designer Patrick Jouin underscored the fact that home living is in constant evolution, a key concept for the Salone del Mobile: “The number of family members changes, we’re living longer, and we become more attached to our homes as we get older. The Salone del Mobile is the place for staying in touch with these ongoing evolutions – what we learned in design and architecture schools is no longer 100% sufficient. We need to stay updated and adaptable, understand life in a broader, deeper sense. As a designer, I can say that you always need to strike a balance, and not be alarmed by the changes. Then you also need to know how to play it.”

The London leg, which took place at the 5-star Bulgari London Hotel, which opened in 2012, designed by Antonio Citterio, featured the British designers  Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. In their presentation, the duo highlighted the fact that the last few years have been crucial in accelerating the processes of change: “Precisely because people spend more time at home than in the past, it has to be capable of serving a number of different functions. What we have found is the increasing rejection of rooms designed for a single function, in favour of larger, free spaces that by their very nature contain an element of multi-functionality. Spaces that are increasingly changeable and adaptable according to the different times of the day.”

At the Hotel Wilmina in Berlin, a former women’s prison, the German designer Konstantin Grcic, underscored the fact that change cuts across different places and different cultures: “You can’t just talk about a single trend. The concept of home living is multifaceted and carries a different meaning in every culture – if we think about Asia, we realise that the spaces are smaller and more intimate compared to those in Berlin, where they are considerably larger. This also applies to the distinction between public and private, which varies a lot from culture to culture.” Grcic emphasised the centrality of the Salone del Mobile’s role as an opportunity to share ideas, concepts and trends: “The Salone is a physical space, it’s real, which is why it’s an unmissable destination.”

In Denmark, at Villa Copenhagen, a hotel in the former Danish Post and Telegraph Company building, Luca Nichetto’s design project put the accent on the return of living spaces characterised by rooms with well-defined functions: “The concept of home living has changed a great deal over the last few years, the last ten in particular. We’ve moved from the open space concept to the realisation that designated rooms work  better. I hope to see fewer trends, rather a return to greater personalisation of spaces.” According to the Danish designer Felicia Arvid, the concept of home living has been transformed, making for a more permeable relationship between public and private spaces. Arvid emphasised the centrality of the Salone when it comes to “exploring the present whilst gleaning an idea of the future.”
